Whistler Village Beer Festival

The Whistler Village Beer Festival brings together some of BC's best craft breweries for a single-day celebration of great energy, tasty beer, good company, and one of the most spectacular outdoor locations in Canada.

The Project

I provided full-event photography coverage of the Whistler Village Beer Festival, aiming to capture the social energy and atmosphere that make it a standout celebration on the Whistler calendar. The approach throughout was candid and real. Happy guests, genuinely important moments, and the kind of easy enjoyment that defines a well-run festival. The Whistler setting is a core part of what makes this event what it is, so the mountain backdrop was always part of the frame. Alongside the crowd and atmosphere, coverage gave equal attention to the details and craft side of the day: the brewery activations, the pours, the branding, and the care that participating partners bring to their work. The goal with every shoot is to document what the experience actually felt like, the emotion, the energy, the special moments that guests will want to remember and look back on.

Deliverables

Coverage spanned the full event across tasting areas, sponsor activations, brewery partner zones, food trucks, live entertainment, and general crowd atmosphere. The shoot ran for six hours across the single event day. A curated set of 10 to 15 selects was turned around at the halfway point to support real-time social media coverage, with a second set of 10 to 15 delivered at the end of the day. The full edited gallery was ready the following morning. Whether you are an event planner coordinating photography services for a large-scale celebration or a brand looking for images that tell a story, this kind of structured turnaround is built into how I work.

On the Ground

Moving through a festival like this means staying adaptable and reading the room. One moment it is a band drawing a crowd at the far end of the village, the next it is a brewer talking someone through a tasting flight, or a group of friends finding their spot in the afternoon sun with the mountains behind them. The work is about being in the right place and being ready, without disrupting the moment. Part of what makes candid shots work is making sure guests feel comfortable and unaware of the camera, so the photos reflect how the day actually felt rather than how it was posed. That balance between coverage and presence is what makes the images feel authentic, because they are. My passion for this kind of work comes from a genuine connection to Whistler, to British Columbia, and to the people and communities that make events here worth remembering.

Turnaround and Use

The full edited gallery of candid moments was delivered the morning after the event. These photos are built to work across a range of uses, including the organizer's own social channels, brewery partner content, tourism and media distribution, and sponsor reporting deliverables. Every file is exported at full resolution, with web-optimized versions included.

My photography services are available for festivals, corporate events, conferences, trade shows, brand activations, and any gathering worth capturing. If you are planning an event in Whistler or anywhere in BC and are looking for a photographer who will show up prepared, stay present throughout, and deliver photos you will want to use, I would love to hear from you.
